For decades, Disneyland Resort hotel workers accepted lower wages in order to keep health insurance for their children. Now, Disney says no more -- instead demanding that these men and women shoulder the healthecare costs, reaching $500 a month. That's too much for dishwashers, bellman, laundry attendents and housekeepers, some of whom make as little as $8.89 per hour.
Disney is devaluing the very people who make it successful. And it's the kids who will pay the price.
We hope that the Walt Disney Corporation will realize that saving a few dollars now is not worth putting hundreds of families’ health and stability at risk. After all, it’s the workers who make the Disney dream come true.
